Looking for a Laser Printer

Aug 21, 2007 8:24PM PDT

Hi all

I just did a quick search through the forum and can't seen to find any advice as to what laser printer I should get. So heres the question:

I am looking for a personal laser printer to print some (a lot) uni work. I'm a med student in Australia and have heaps (and heaps) of stuff to print.
I'm looking to spend around AUD$300 (~US$250)
I need to print a lot so would like double-sided printing (duplex)

So far I've seen the Dell 1720 and the Samsung ML 3051ND but i would need to spend another AUD$100 to get duplex.

Any advice would be great... if these printers are good (user review would be helpful) or if there is another that I am overlooking...

Thanks for your help
JD

How I saved 100 bucks and printed faster than a duplexer.

Fortunately I grew up before duplexers were cheap. I would print the odd pages, flip the stack into the input tray and print the even pages. I handily beat the times that a duplexer equipped printer produced.

At to which lasers I buy at home and office, the name is HP.

Brother HL-5250DN

I would look at the Brother HL 5250DN. Built in Duplexor with networking also. High yield cartridge of around 7k. Plus if you need cartridges, your not stuck with one provider (Dell).
