looking for a laptop

Just 2 days ago I installed XP on a Lenovo y530.

Just like I suspected, no less than 10 drivers after XP was installed and just like others I had to flip the BIOS from SATA to IDE mode.

I wish that everyone would do this at least once.

I end up buying Inspiron 1545. Hope this is compatable with XP pro and Window Pro. That what Dell told me.

Since I don't have Window Pro for IIS and SQL Server. I am going to Format Window Home and install XP Pro, IIS and SQL Server.

Any suggestion????

You could have hit the dell web site on that model to find the XP drivers or asked it be delivered with XP running. But here's what I'm seeing in the real world. Some want XP but had no warning how rough it is to install properly. That is the OS install on SATA drives is well known but will average Joe/Jane know what drivers to install after?

Get that install plan from Dell or don't buy.
