Looking for a good, portable mouse, probably wireless

Apr 24, 2007 5:16AM PDT

I just received my Dv9000 today from HP, so far I really like it. I haven't yet purchased my mouse because I'm trying to find the best one for me, I have used sevral different ones and they all feel fine, so that really isn't an issue.

I think I would like to go wireless, however, I'm a little bit worried about doing this. I decided to by a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard for my desktop, paid almost $100 for each and it stopped working less than a year later, I don't even know if it made it 6 months before dying.... So I'm not sure if this is a common problem or not.

So basically I am looking to spend aronud $20 or so, if possible, but want it to be a good mouse that is going to last a long time. More than likely wireless

I would like it to be smaller in size so it is easier to transport.

I'd really like to be able to get something from either Wal Mart or Staples. These are both stores that I can go today and I would like to get it as soon as possible. It will be at least a week before I could get to somewhere like Circuit City or Best Buy and i don't really want to order if possible.

thanks so much for any ideas!

I forgot to mention I am using Vista

I noticed when I was shopping that some of the mice say they are compatible with Vista. Do I have to buy one of these, or does it just have extra features? They all are running upwards of $100 and I don't really want one that high.

Thanks

While you may find many brands out there, usually Logitech and Microsoft and best to select from. Excluding your past problem, neither is going to be x-yrs. to operate, but should give good service. Usually, those that are problematic maybe more to the "environment" from RF noise and/or distance plus battery life. YES, you should select those wireless mice that are Vista ready.

Thanks, good to know

I really didn't use the mouse all that much, normal use, I just would have thought that one that cost that much would last longer than a few months. One of the reasons I am questioning going back with Microsoft, but may try them one more time.

Thanks for letting me know about getting the vista mouse. I've only seen 1 or 2 that have the sticker and none of those were wired, so I was sure if I had to or not.

Thanks again
