Ummmmmmmmm, Sony Vegas is NOT an authoring program.

Sony's authoring program is called DVD Architect, and the latest version is reportedly much improved over the previous versions. That means it's now pretty good.

Vegas is a non-linear editor (NLE), and is excellent for that task. Unless I've missed it, or its been added in version 7, Vegas does not have much in the way of DVD burning capability. That's why Sony sells a bundle including Vegas and DVD Architect.

Good to note.

The DVD Architect and DVD burning was included in every package we obtained. But one should check this...

DVD-software..??

In reply to: looking for a good dvd authoring program

I started out useing the ROXIO EZ CD/DVD 6 Platinum Edition..
..
I'm now useing the NERO 7 Ultra Edition..
..
The ROXIO is the best choice for first timers..it is easy to understand..and the Audio Section is superb../
..
NERO 7 is really difficult..I consider myself a excellent Video Producer..and it gives me many "work-arounds" considering the choice of its Components..its got alot..and choices confuse the Project..but in my estimation/its Flawless..and uses Dolby-Digital Sound..
..
ADOBE Products seem very good..I've never used them..but then they seem to need a very High Powered PC..I would quess in the Extreme end..
..
Products can be as little as $$60.00/NERO was $$99.00
..some Software Products cost $$700.00..
..
Its a blast to make DVD-movies..I often laugh at my stuff..or even tear up over some subtle capture..
..
Your PC will need a DVD-decoder..
The software should supply this/but encounters might offer a need to fix.
