There are plenty available (over 100).

But.....what does "good" mean to you.

Exactly what type are you looking for.

Things to consider:

Size: ultra thin, pocket size, medium, large
Optical zoom: no zoom, 3X, 10X, or what
Target Price: prices range from $200 to $500
Brand: do you prefer a particular brand of camera.
Type: Point-and-Shoot, intermediate, advanced

What is a good camera?
Oct 25, 2004 3:33AM PDT

My Nikon Coolpix 880 is a good camera because:
1. I can attach a Nikon slide copier and copy old 35mm slides slides.
2. I can attach a 2X lens and extend my zoom to about 6X.
3. I can attach it to my telescope with a modified adapter ring.
4. It has all kinds of scene settings and I have actually used the settings for sunset, fireworks and backlight.
5. The dpreview website says it is a good camera.

What you think is a good camera may be completely different from what I think is good camera.

You didn't mention any special features you want your camera to have, so I'm just going to list some good ones that I don't own but have heard of in every category that you might use it for.

General shooting
-Canon Powershot A75
-Canon Powershot A300
-Nikon Coolpix 3200
-Nikon Coolpix 3700

Ultracompact
-Nikon Coolpix 3700
-Canon Powershot SD200

High-end, many manual features
-Canon Powershot S1 IS

Better than average movie mode
-Canon Powershot S1 IS
-Nikon Coolpix 3700*
-Konica Minolta Dimage Xg

*Please note, though the movie quality is good on this Nikon, the sound is often out of sync with the picture, but this can be corrected using special software.
