Question

Looking For a Gaming Laptop

Jun 6, 2016 7:23PM PDT

Hi people, i have recently started looking for a gaming laptop and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I am hoping for something 1800 AUD (including shipping) or under 1200 usd
I want at least 16gb of ddr3 or ddr4, would like a 17 inch screen, multi-colour back-lit keyboard, a broadwell or higher processor, 1 tb hardrive (no need for an ssd but will not say no), at least a 2 hour battery life but more is better, ethernet is also needed, at least a gtx 960m or higher and windows 10 is preferred.

Thanks

Clarification Request
Battery time depends on use.
Jun 7, 2016 8:51AM PDT

I just looked up battery times on notebookcheck and the model I was checking had a low of 1hr 40minites then zoomed to over 6 hours for WiFi surfing.

The discussion at http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/bang-for-my-buck-laptop-south-africa/ has a link with the 17 inch model that my son has (he went with the 15.)

Remember that 17 inch models have proven issues for students or a lot of travel. I suggest you avoid them unless it will be on a desk, and on a cooling pad.

I have the MSI gaming laptop now, and hane great experience on it! As your budget, you can add a little bit to have more high-end laptop than I have.
GT or GS series would be a good choice for you!

you have lots of options from MSI, Acer, ROG and Lenovo. Models below are all with GTX960M 16GB 1TB. Judging from the product photos, only GE72 is with the multi-colour back-lit keyboard.
