I won't be able to see if the game meets your requirement.
As to the battery, those are 300 cycle rated and folk that use the machine daily on battery, charge at night will wear them out yearly. Maybe your current laptop has the old worn out battery?

So, some background info:
I've to give up my school-issued MacBook Air next month and I need to replace it ASAP. I'm leaning towards hopping aboard the MacBook Pro train, but I thought I'd ask around, online and IRL, see what else there is out there. Annoyingly, this has gotten me nowhere. The vast majority of people that I've asked simply tell me to not buy the Pro but cannot offer me even one viable alternative to it.
I'm not a huge Apple nerd but over the course of my high school career I've been through 3 school-issued MacBooks and I've come to like them enough. My current one, a mid-2013 model is reliable, sturdy, and powerful enough to run just about everything I've thrown at it so far... as opposed to my personal laptop, a Dell Studio 1535 thats CPU overheated, only for the screen and power buttons to fall off once I had it replaced. That was with light use, too. Really impressive.
What I'm looking for:
It's primary intended use will be music production and performance w/ Ableton Live 9. I need enough power to run an array of VST plug-ins simultaneously. I've been told by a friend I should be looking for an i5 or above.
I'll also be using it for
• 1080p video streaming and playback
• Miscellaneous college work
• Low-end, non-demanding games
So I guess I'm looking for
• i5+
• 802.11ac WiFi
• Ideally 3-4 USB 3.0 ports but I can just get a powered hub
• Decent battery life
and perhaps most importantly: a decent lifespan. Something that won't die in five minutes like my Studio. I don't want to have to replace this thing for years.
I've an external audio interface already but a good onboard sound card or w/e would be nice. For music on the go, you know?
An onboard GPU would be nice but it's not a top priority.
My budget is from $1k to around $1.5k.
Thank you for your time.
I really appreciate it. ![]()
