General discussion

Looking at buying the KDF-E50A10 and have a feiw questions

Sep 15, 2005 5:13PM PDT

Ok first off I am kinda stuck on this tv. Love the desiegn. So now I am wondering If It will fit my needs. I am a major console gamer and I never here anyone say anything about what games look like on HDTV's. Why is this not one of the things Cnet uses in there reviews. I am realy stuck on weather to buy or not to buy and this is one of my main reasons. Any feed back to help my decision would realy be apreciated. Also wouldnt the rainbow be apairent almost Imediatly with any racing game.

saw it at best buy a few days ago...

Well i have researched and done all my homework on TV's and still can't figure out which one i want! I did spend some time with this TV the other day at Best buy... first off the "rainbow" you speak of would happen more on a DLP TV not so much the LCD... but, i did notice at the model at Best buy that the "screen door" effect was a lil noticable on this model... maybe it was the store lighting, because when i saw the same model (E50A10) at Tweeters in a "theater room" it looked awesome! I am stuck myself with what i want... But i do know (as the saleman stated) LCD is more for a: sitcom, regular TV, movie watcher where DLP is more for a: Sports, Gaming fan... so you might want to look at the DLPs like the Samsung, IF you can get past that gay lookin round button... i couldn't, so my purchase might be the E50A10... Good Luck, tell me what you get!

don't worry

Hi, I recently bought the KDF sony just like the one you want to buy. It is great, I actually like the design. Since this is a LCD projection, not DLP, you won't have to worry about rainbow effects.

Yea going to get It to day If best buy has it In

Yea I didnt mean the rainbow. I was actualy meaning Ghousting you know when an image moves but you can still see them faintly. And yes just for you I will keep posting on everything I find good or bad. And I will try to keep records of what each setting is at when I use the video optimizer. This tv has to get past my high standards on every level. From Gaming/Pc to Movies and HDTV. What Invironment Would you be putting this tv In. Mine is A controld lighting with blinds and two sets of curtains. Its always night time in my place.

Check the stretch modes

My sons play Playstation on our 16:9 TV and some games are made for 16:9 but many are not. I would suggest that you take time and look at how the TV displays 4:3 images. This will apply to 90% of the video games as well as standard broadcast signals. All images made in 16:9 look great on a 16:9 TV, but the majority of TV we watch is still 4:3.
