The Mac Mini would not even be a consideration in the "I can take on the go" field. It is not a portable, in the true sense of the word, it is just a very small desktop machine that requires a keyboard, monitor and an external power brick.
Rumors of a "think" MacBook (Pro or otherwise) are just that, rumors. Apple is not in the habit of announcing future computer lines until they are available for sale.
The MacBook or MacBook Pro will easily do all that you ask, maxing the memory is always a good idea, and that includes XP and Vista.
Yes, it is probably wise to wait for Leopard which should be out before July, but who knows?
P
i need a mac that i can take on the go, and i need something more than the 64mb of video memory offered on the mac mini, I've seen the macbook pro and am pretty impressed by it. yet I've heard rumors of a thin macbook approaching soon. i need something that'll be able to handle video editing, run XP, or possibly vista if i ever come to accept it, and have enough power to last me a good 6-7 years. also I'm aware of that leopard is to be out around spring. is it worth the wait for leopard and any other possible upgrades on these notebooks, or am i better of getting one now and get leopard later? I need something by july by the latest
