Question

Lonovo Thinkpad E555 Re-Booting

Aug 15, 2016 10:30AM PDT

I have a Lonovo Thinkpad E555 that has a AMD A6 processor running Operating System Windows 7. The Laptop will start to power up and then cycle and try again. It will make it just past the Lonovo screen then cycle. If you hit F12 you will get the boot from screen and if you are quick enough you can arrow down but even if you select something the machine will shut down and attempt to boot up again. One more issue is it will do this on battery but if you plug it in it will not even try to power up. What could be the issue with this machine? Thanks in advance.

Repair not available

How do you see a ship date? The Laptop I am posting this on is not the one I am having issues with. The machine is two months past the warranty period (isn't this normal LOL). I tried the reset and nothing has changed.

I use google to find ship dates.

The reason I check is to see if there's a chance of it being in warranty. Many makers offer longer warranties and some allow you to extend them after they expire.

But all that is for naught because you have told me there is no repair available.

I can only guess you bought in some country then moved it to another country without a repair center. That means you have to see if any repair shop will take a look and shop for a new laptop.

if paid for with credit card

some credit card companies will extend the warranty if purchased with their card. It is a feature that is not well known.

Thanks for responding Proffitt and renegade. The machine is actually my daughter in laws and where she got it or how is not in the stars. I am just hoping that someone has seen this before and knows what part or parts could be replaced to fix it.

That I can share.

A machine in such a state is taken in with fair warnings about cost to repair.

We'll give the reset a try, pop in a new CMOS battery, try the reset again, make sure the charger and battery are not 3rd party and then call it. It's usually the motherboard that we have to replace. This can be too costly if you factor in the 150 dollar shop fee for the work.
