LONGHORN SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS???

http://reviews.cnet.com/Microsoft_Windows_Longhorn/4505-3672_7-21008729-2.html

Rumor has it that Longhorn will feature 4 types of interfaces: from minimum to eye-candy. The top two are called Aero Express and Aero Glass.

Aero Express requires video with 64MB of video and DirectX9 support

Aero glass requires 256MB video and DirectX 9 support.

Longhorn needs a minimum of 512MB RAM.

I need to know the processor speed required and how much it will cost. However, Microsoft isn't telling much. Post what you know.

Doubtful

In reply to: LONGHORN SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS???

Microsoft has been chucking feature after feature overboard trying to get that thing shipped. If I were the product manager, features like that would get the axe long before other things that have been dropped... Like WinFS, basing it on .NET 2.0, and some other stuff.

Hard to believe....Upgrade ploy?

In reply to: found another link

This is hard to believe.
To install Windows Code Name "Longhorn", the computer must have a DVD drive and must meet the following minimum requirements:
? 233 megahertz (MHz) processor
? 256 megabytes (MB) of RAM
? 6 GB of available hard disk space during installation
You could barely, if at all, get WinXP Pro running on a machine with these specs.
Personally, I find it hard to believe.......

WINDOWS XP

In reply to: Hard to believe....Upgrade ploy?

ACCORDING TO MICROSOFT THEMSELVES, WINDOWS XP WILL ONLY RUN ON MACHINES WITH A HIGHER THAN 450 MHZ SPEED, SO THAT WOULD BE VERY CLEVER TO HAVE IT RUN ON A 233 MHZ PC MODEL, THAT REALLY TAKES SOME REAL BELIEVING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

It'll run...

In reply to: Hard to believe....Upgrade ploy?

On the slowest 386 system you can find, it just won't be pretty. Of course being a 32-bit OS, it does have to be a 386. All other Intel chips previous were 16-bit or less.

Those requirements are for what's considered the minimally acceptable performance level.

WeLl thanks FRIEND for your KIND reply, all I wish to add then is: - "GOD HELP ANYBODY WHO TRIES TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP WITH THAT KIND OF PC SPECIFICATIONS: MAYBE THAT IS WHY LONGHORN IS SHORTLY ON THE WAY IN, (AS IT COULD POSSIBLY REQUIRE 5 YEARS TO LOAD IT LOL. I FOR ONE DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF PACIENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
