Longhorn?

Aug 5, 2004 3:27PM PDT

Anyone know anything about Microsoft's new OS code named "Longhorn." I googled and found somethings, but couldn't find out if it is going to be released in 2005 or 2006. I was thinking about purchasing a new notebook in a month or so, but should I wait until Longhorn comes out? Please help!

In short, since it's 2 years out, your laptop will be at the end of the usual 3 years usable lifespan.

Don't fret about Longhorn.

The latest prognosis for Longhorn I saw was mid 2006 or even 2007. It will not come out in 2005.

Get the notebook you need now (currently Pentium M is best but when Longhorn arrives it will likely be 2 CPU 64bit cpus) and download Windows XP service pack 2 once available and once the bugs have been worked out.

(see Cnet article about this --coming in August 2004)
