Question

Login troubles for a database

Jan 1, 2015 10:36PM PST

My boss has no trouble logging into a database on her computer. When I try to log in with the EXACT same login credentials on my own computer a few feet away, it never works. Any ideas?

- What database exactly? dBase III? MySQL? MS Access? Oracle?
- And what program to type the username/password in?

- Can you/she login on your boss' computer (using the Guest account)?
- Can she/you login on your computer (using the Guest account)?
- Can YOU login on your boss' computer (after she logged in into her Windows account)?

Thanks for your response.

It is a specialized nonprofit database from Blackbaud. We are using Windows 7 and the latest version of Firefox. IE does not work either for me. We have never tried the Guest account on either computer.

If it works on ALL computers, except yours, something is wrong with yours.
If it workes on NONE OTHER then the computer of your boss, something is special with hers.
So any smarphone or tablet or laptop might help to find which of these two options it is.

Since Firefox is a not a database program, but a browser, there must be a website with an application server in in between or maybe a local server on her PC. Moreover, you don't login to the database, you log in into the website, and the application on the website logs in into the database.

So it might be best to call Blackbaud customer service and ask them to help you. They will know what you talk about and ask the right questions to find the issue.
