I've reposted this topic for "beepe73". It was originally posted in the "Tips" thread. It'll get lost there so I deleted it from that location and reposted here:

windows xp sp2, when logging on as computer administrator a small black window opens hard to read to fast, something about shutdown, and the computer shuts down and turns off. If i log on as another user everything ok. I ran my virus scan under a limited account found nothing, but doesn't scan all files becaues of limited account. If i change a limited account to administator and try to log on, the computer shuts down. I can log on under safe mode as administrator but can't run my virus scan. please help.

It sounds like the admin profile is corrupted.

Is this XP SP2 HOME or PRO?

How many administrator accounts do you have set up? If you only have the primary administrator set up on XP, then it's best if you create at least one more. You should be able to do it from Safe Mode.

Have you tried running System File Checker?

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

Hope this helps.
