1. My work laptop did that and it turned out it was doing Windows Updates in the background.
2. Same laptop and deep digging found .NET doing it's NGEN Assemblies recompiling.
3. Windows login, if you use the Microsoft account on the web method (which I consider a privacy breach) could be slow. Hint? I won't use that.
Hopefully there are other ideas out there.

I've had a Sony Vaio Pro for about 2 weeks now. The start up time on this thing is fantastic..roughly 5 seconds it takes. But since yesterday once I get to the login screen I type in my password. Then I get the welcome text with the loading circle. Usually this would take 5-10 seconds tops but now it stays like that for a whole minute. Then once it logs in the screen is black for around 30 seconds. After this it loads onto the desktop and loads a few icons then switches to the startscreen.
This seems awfully slow and odd to be honest. What causes this and does anyone know how to fix it?
