i foolishly installed XP on a second computer (it had come preinstalled on my Gateway laptop, and i used the backup disk to install XP on a desktop).
it worked fine for 30 days (all the while telling me to "activate Windows"). of course, when i tried to activate XP on my laptop, it said it was already activated.
now, the 30 days have run, and i'm locked out of XP on my desktop. i want to copy the Microsoft Word files on my desktop before i reformat the hard drive (which i assume is what i need to do before reinstalling Windows 2000).
can anybody tell me how to get to the Word files so i can back them up on disk?
thanks in advance.
