I had an older laptop that did that. It was a BIOS or other driver bug. This happened about 2 times in the past decade so it's pretty rare. Updates to the BIOS helped once and the other looks to be self inflicted with either a keyboard driver update or a key logger. We may never know as we reloaded the OS as the owner didn't want to pay for the investigation.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I am logged in as administrator and I have configured my laptop in a way that after closing the top lid the system suspends operation and afterwards when opening the top lid, need the password to continue operating. All of a sudden, after I close the top and open it again, the administrator message says "locked" and I cannot even type a password. The letter keys do not function. I have to change user, and THEN I can type the password but this never happened before.
Who do I solve this?
Thanks for your patience
