What version of OS X are you trying to install?
Is the dual processor the standard from Apple or is it a processor upgrade?
How much memory have you got installed. OS X is VERY picky about the quality of the installed RAM. Depending on how much you have installed, you may be able to remove a stick, still be within the requirements, and try the install again.
I doubt it is a HD problem. It is either RAM, Processor or Logic board. That certainly narrows it down a bit! (NOT) ![]()
You are currently running OS 9.2.2, OS 9.3 was never released.
P
I have been running os9.3 for quite some time on my G4 dual proc.
A while back, I tried to install a purchased copy of osX.
It goes all the way through the installation process but when it gets to the end of the progress bar, it stops and says installation was unsuccessful. There is plenty of memory. Extensions and virus software were all off.
I tried several times and finally gave up as I just don't have the time to keep fooling with it.
Then I purchased an 80g external drive for stoage and backup mostly and thought I would try the installation on there instead. It did the same thing. So I took it back off of that drive.
I can switch to osX and use it for some things but it keeps locking up. So once again, I have reverted to 9.3.
My big problem now is that I have to keep up with what we are using where I work and I ahve upgrades to other programs that will not work on anything older than X.
What do I need to do to get up-to-date?
