Question

Lock and load

Has Trump been watching too many John Wayne movies?

This coming from a guy that spend Zero time in military service.

Some might even consider him a draft dodger.

Ever been on the wrong end of ordinance?
It's not fun.

I don't much care

Whether it's dems or repubs that run the country.

I just want them to think it through before they pull the trigger on military intervention in some country and have a plan from start to finish.

Try other options first and leave the military for last.

Yes both parties put out BS.

Absolutely, I agree, Bob

"Try other options first and leave the military for last."

I guess the only part we don't agree on is that the military use should never been taken out of the option list. When our past presidents have done that, and openly and publicly stated that 'boots on the ground' isn't an option (like BO did repeatedly), only signals to those we are trying to negotiate with that they can demand anything they want or threaten us and our allies repeatedly and not worry about real consequences.

Military option
Aug 17, 2017 3:40AM PDT

I don't think I said anything about removing that option.

I just want our pols to think this through before going that route.

Many/most of our pols have no skin in the game so it's easy to vote yes.

They have no idea what it's like to be in that war zone.

Neither does 99% of the public who clamor for action.

RE:Show me, in history, where ANY USA President

Show me, in history, where ANY USA President whether they wore those boots or not, EVER said 'let's start a war', You can't even say that about Trump.

However, if you look at recent history with BO.....without saying it out loud, didn't HE start wars in Libya, Egypt, and Syria

But YOU can say it about Obama?

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Not drafted like you probably were. When you are in, whether drafted or volunteer, you don't make those decisions on where you go. In fact I didn't even get the job and assignment I'd originally signed up for, had to change my choice of job, or leave. So, there's no glory on where you were assigned, nor if you got pieces shot off you or not, it's doing the job you have, wherever that may be. I know, there are organizations where some sit around and compare "wounds" and self glory over it for more years than they even served. I just ignore such. I was in during Reagan's years and proud we kept the peace.

I was not drafted
Aug 16, 2017 10:50AM PDT

I spent 2 years in training and 2 years doing a job.

I had no options about where I was sent, I just did my job.

Yes I've met the types that did their service driving a desk stateside and now consider themselves war hero's.

I was on the wrong end of ordinance once,

but hey! I paid my debt to society! Happy
But seriously, you have an excellent point. It's why, when the subject comes up I say I was in the service during 'Nam but always add, 'but I wasn't in country'. Big difference.
I think you're aware that, in olden days, the generals and admirals had a good chance of losing a limb [Nelson] or a life [Montcalm and Wolfe]. Perhaps THAT would adjust attitudes today.

Yup

I also paid my debt with a pound of flesh and a quart of blood but that's in the past and it's done.

It's easy for pols to take a vote or sign a piece of paper but their not on the receiving end.

Once you have been on the receiving end it changes your attitude.
