Resolved Question

Local Disc Drive (D:) is almost full but no files on it

May 23, 2018 3:39AM PDT

I have a gaming PC and I have been notified time after time again that my local disc drive is nearly full but when I opened the drive, there are no files. I have cleaned the disc, cleared the recycle bin but nothing is working. I can also see an effect this has on the performance ofgames.
Thank you to anyone who can help
Cheers, Luke

Many of these are for Restore or Factory Recovery.

And with the last big Windows update the Ignore Space Checks on that drive was removed.

I fear a lot of folk are going to needlessly fix this one. The real fix is to set the ignore again for this drive like it was before.

A little more. I worry that folk will try to clean up D: or increase the size of D to get the warning (it's not an error) to go away.

Here's a post I made about the fix.

Hope this saves you from unnecessary work.

If you have installed certain folder protection software, it can hide your folders/files from being viewed. You can use WinHex to browse the files inside D:\.
