loading vista

I have a laptop 2 GB ram, 250 HD, intel core 2 duo, 2 GHz. I want to install vista but someone told me that i cannot do it without doing something in the BIOS, and also he will not tell me. Is this right someone help me otherwise it will be a wastage of money buying the vista

That's not true. But why would you want to install Vista now Windows 7 is out?

More people with Vista do the upgrade to Windows 7 than people with Windows XP, because Windows 7 reportedly is MUCH better than VISTA and only a BIT better then Windows XP. So it doesn't seem the best action to take to go to Vista now.

If you purchased a full retail copy of Vista it qualifies for a free upgrade to Windows 7. Let me know if this is the case and I can get you the link.

I should add this for clarity: If you purchased a packaged copy of Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate without a new PC, you can order your copy of Windows 7 directly from Microsoft.
