Maybe the "Laptop hardware component & upgrades" forum is not the right area. Since it's likely to be something about the OS at first I thought the 7 forum but that's still slow compared to the Computer Help forum.
Try the Computer Help forum and be sure to reveal the exact version of Photoshop.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium, Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4200 @2.00 Ghz, 3GB Shared dual channel DDR2 at 800 Mhz, (added 1 GB memory total now 4Gb), 320 GB sata hard drive (5400rpm).
I would like to download my Photoshop Elements program onto this laptop but when I tried it stated there was not enough memory. I need this laptop to be able to do at least minimum photo editing, crop, rotate, contrast/color correction and resizing of images. I was wondering if I used an external hard drive can I just load the Elements program there and work with my images. Do I need any additional programs to set up and work off the additional hard drive? Or is there a basic program that I can download to work on the laptop without an additional hard drive? Would installing a larger hard drive do the trick? (I need the photos to post and sell items on the internet.) Please keep in mind that I know enough about computers to get myself in trouble most times.
