LNT4665F/XAA Picture appears for 2s then goes black sound on

Hello,

I purchased my LNT4665F/XAA in July 2007 and until 2 days ago the unit operating very well. Now the unit powers on (clicks and plays the little power on chime), shows an image for 2 seconds then goes black. The sound remains on but no image. Further changing between sources does not help. Red light at bottom right and blue bar under ?Samsung? remain on. Red light blinks when using remote to change between channels or sources. The cable tv is digital through component?so no loose HDMI cables. Thinking this maybe a handshake problem that I have ready about in this forum, I have checked the component cables and every combination of power both digital cable box and television on and off.

I have a pc connected through monitor cables, a digital cable unit through component and a dvd player via hdmi. If this is a firmware issue, is there a way I can utilize the pc to ?see? the menu screens?

I called 800-Samsung and was given a ?confirmation? number (2010322862) and a number for a local Chicago-land repair company. I do not mind paying the repairman charge if this issue requires gutting the unit or replacing parts?but would prefer to exhaust any self-treat solutions first. I would greatly appreciate the help.
