After waiting for several days to hear back from any Samsung tech on this site I got frustrated and irritated enough to post a question at ask.com ($17 deposit)and within 24 hours got reply from a qualified person. Quite simple - Samsung USB adapter and TV will not accept any network security passwords containing letters different then a-f. I wish this was stated somewhere in the TV manual.
There you have it... hope this will save somebody major headache and aggravation.
Hello everyone,
I got a new LN55B650 and tried to get it connected (with WIS09 wireless LAN adapter)to my existing network (Linksys WRT54GX4 router). Auto set-up found the network and asked for security key after which it tried to connect and failed. Error message red:
"Check the network settings of TV or connected device."
After trying this process several times I decided to attempt manual setup:
Filled out all the fields for IP address, Subnet Mask,Gateway and DNS Server. Went to do Network Test and got check marks for both MAC Address and IP Address,Subnet, Gateway, DNS Server. However got X for Gateway Ping...
Message red:
"Not connected to the gateway. Check if network cable is properly connected. Check the network settings and verify that the current Gateway is on the network. For more info contact your network service provider."
Called Linksys and spent over an hour on phone with their tech support who walked me through complete router setup and stated everything is fine with router - proof in other two laptops being able to connect wirelessly and third desktop computer through Ethernet cable.
Called Samsung and ended up talking to a level 2 tech support who stated that TV is obviously trying to connect to Router (AP) but router does not let it connect and solution is with Linksys not Samsung.
My internet connection type is PPPoE and not auto configuration DHCP.
Would like an advice how to proceed, from somebody who has had same problem or somebody who understands the subject.
Thanks in advance for guidance and help.
