LN52A850 - what is this number

Jan 30, 2009 8:25AM PST

Hello. On the right side of the frame is a label with three numbers: model code, serial number, and version. My set's version is SQ01. What does the version represent? I have had two salesman give me two different stories 1) it is the firmware revision, and 2) it is the processor model. I don't think either story is correct. Please explain. TIA.

panel type

version correlates directly with the panel manufacturer, and starts with the same letter that indicates the panel manufacturer of the TV on the BACK sticker.
how to check: check you model code on the BACK sticker; there should be a space after the model code, and then a single letter by itself to the right, sort of: it could be A or C or S.
I bet you have an S (all 650 and above have S) there, which means it's a Samsung panel, and your version also begins with S.

Main Board

dspisak,

Actually, that code signifies which main board is in the unit.

It assists the servicer in the event that mainboard needs to be replaced which board it is.

It does not signify the panel.

Thanks for the clarification;
Do you know why the service centers ask for the version number when they replace the panels also?
(not my direct experience, but based on a different post here)
