LN52A850 IR Problem - Inverter Boards

Mar 19, 2009 4:29AM PDT

I have a repair ticket number 4003214745 due to the IR interference problem with my cable box. I have left you a message in that thread, but the size of the thread is becoming unwieldy and I'm not so sure you see all of those messages as they lose content because one can not reply to a given message in many instances.

I had talked to my local service company and their tech about this issue. He has found the Samsung bulletin that describes the inverter board replacement along with the max dim setting change. They had ordered the parts and called to set up the repair, which was yesterday (3/1Cool. When the tech called me yesterday AM to give me the time when he would be coming, he told me that Samsung had sent him a complete LCD panel to replace. They were told the inverter boards were not available.

I am unclear as to whether the LCD panel includes new inverter boards or not, but why would Samsung want to do that even if it does?

Please find out when inverter boards will be available and let me know. I am very reluctant to change the panel as I really can't see any dead pixels and there is of course the possibility of tiny scratches (or worse) happening to the panel and bezel surfaces while changing it out.

I have a workaround for now using a remote control extender with an IR blaster taped with enough electrical tape to shield the cable box sensor. I don't want that permanently because of cosmetics, but if you told me it would be a month until the boards were available I would just wait.

The other question is if the fix is actually better with the entire panel replacement assuming that included the inverter boards....

help!!

Bob

rhb--2008,

I am a little behind in getting posts, but rest assured, I do read every one of them. Whenever I participate in a thread, I check that box that notifies me of every new response. So I'll probably come across it after I take care of the new posts. Happy

I have no idea why they are replacing the panel for the IR issue. It should JUST be the inverter boards. If it was me, I'd ask why the panel was being replaced with the problem IS the IR boards. I do know that we are backordered on the boards, but this should be a temporary fix. If the panel looks fine, then they shouldn't be moving it at all.

Keep me posted.

I did question why and the local tech said that was what Samsung sent and that when he questioned why not just the inverter boards they said they were not available and could give no timeframe as to when they would be available.

What I am requesting is for you to inquire about when inverter boards will be available!?

I have requested this information. I don't have an answer as of yet.

Thanks for trying. My local tech called me about a half hour ago and said they were now available, so he should have them within a week.

The service this local company gives is truly remarkable and reflects well on Samsung having selected them.

Thanks again,

Bob
