LN52A850 - Increased clouding after .4 inverters installed

Mar 28, 2009 8:02AM PDT

Samsung_HD_Tech,

Back on March 4th, 2009 RoadiJeff informed you that he was experiencing increased clouding after the installation of version .4 inverter boards. I just wanted to let you know the same thing occurred to my set as well. The tech who installed the boards didn't think much of the clouding because he thought the problem stemmed from the old inverters. I am going to call Samsung on Monday and have the tech com back.

Actually, I'm not even sure that they installed version 4 boards. I was at work when they did the repair and my wife says she looked at the replacement boards and they did not have a version # on them. She also said the replacements were the same color as the originals.

Although the IR interference problem was reduced it has not gone away. I still have to be careful of where I mount my HotLink Pro remote sensor so the little blue LED doesn't glow constantly when I first turn on my TV.

That leads me to wonder if they just installed a modified version 3 set of boards, in which case the version # would probably have been removed when they did the modifications. I think I am going to wait until the version 4 boards are more available and generate another repair ticket and have it done right the second time.

BTW, the clouding issue that I mentioned after the board swap has improved but mainly because I changed the HDMI Black Level setting to LOW instead of NORMAL. It creates a darker background at the expense of being able to see dark scenes in a movie if I'm watching it during the daylight hours.

Thanks for the info. But as for my situation I am 100% positive that the tech that came to my house swapped out the right board and I am still receiving a "clouding" affect on my LCD panel.

Does anyone really know what is causing this anyway? Is it the firmware, LCD panel, circuit board, or the slim design that might be holding too much heat?

Samsung HD Tech, do you have an answer?
