What is the best way to to optimize my stereo system, BluRay and LCD TV? Should I run the BlueRay DVD into the TV and then out into the stereo via digital link? I currently run the BluRay via HDMI into the stereo and then HDMI into the TV. Sounds great, terriffic picture etc. I just want to make sure I get all I can out of my system. Receiver is an 800 series Onkyo.

Only thing you may need to be aware of...some Samsung tv's (mine included)will NOT pass 5.1 back to receiver via hdmi, you'll need an optical cable from tv back to receiver if that's the case. So, in other words, if you're just listening to the tv through the receiver and not playing a dvd, you may get only stereo sound with no optical cable. Read your manual

Yes, the setup you've got works best for your components. This is the only way to get 7.1 sound (True HD, etc.) out of some Blu-Ray titles, assuming you have that many speakers, of course. Happy

The only other thing is that if you ever need to take advantage of such TV inputs as 'TV' or 'DLNA' (etc) and need to get Audio from the TV to the Receiver, you would want to connect OPT Out on the TV to an OPT In on the Onkyo.
