LN52A750 TOC Popping Sound

Feb 10, 2009 10:15AM PST

I Have a LN52A750 TOC set, There is 2 issues I have and I am asking for help or guidance. When I turn the TV on after about 5 min I get this popping sound that is loud enough to distract your viewing, it continues every 10 - 15 min., pop or even a snap sound,it is really annoying. plus I do have the Halo issue around the TOC bezel but I think I can get by that, but the popping sound really distracts your viewing cause your always anticipation the next popping sound. I went with the Samsung set cause of the high marks Consumer Reports gave it and a lot of friends recommended it. I spent good money for Samsung reputation and quality and feel I shouldn't have to go through this,
My TV is still under warranty, so can Samsung offer an upgrade to the 850 with a small out of pocket cost? or is there a solution to these issue?

Thanks

Rock142,

Exchanges are usually done at the retail level for new ownership. If this isn't a possibility, there may be some recource through the Executive Customer Relations department, which you can be connected to through 800-SAMSUNG. Exchanges through Samsung are usually a final resort, and not necessarily an "upgrade" program. Retailers may be more flexible, depending on how long you've owned your unit. ECR makes those decisions, and I have very little influence there, so I try to let them handle those inquiries.

The popping sound can be fixed, and this would be a regular service call. In fact, if you'd like to try both, feel free to have your bezel exchanged and the popping noise fixed.

Thanks for your help, I've had the TV since July 2008 and I bought it on line, so I have exhausted the exchange period, so I would be more than happy to try the service call first to see if they can resolve these issues. Is fixing the popping sound and exchanging the bezel a big project or its pretty straight forward? Thanks again for your response and I will begin the service process soon and let you know how I make out.

I made an in home service appointment and the Tech came out and replaced the Bezel , and I'm happy to say no more halo effect or picture bleeding to the outer edges of the bezel, but for the popping sound he said that with the bigger sets the heat causes the plastic to expand and contract which that's what I thought so I can deal with that,
But the funny thing is that night I was watching TV and there was no popping sound, wow go figure, I guess when he took it apart he tightened the screw pretty well, I don't know but no popping sound.
I wanted to say that I was very happy with the whole process from the time I made the appointment to the time the tech came out for the repair, and the tech was pleasant to deal with.
So thumbs up for Samsung Service, Support and products.
