LN52A650 Randomly Loses Picture

by nagsam / August 5, 2009 12:28 PM PDT

I had the LN52A650 for about 6 months. Every few weeks, while watching cable tv, the picture is lost and replaced by noise (snow). I checked to see that the cable box was still on. I need to turn off the Samsung and turn in back on again. It will show the picture then, without doing anything to the cable box.

Any fix is appreciated.

Thanks.

nagsam.

nagsam,

What happens if you turn off the cable box and turn it on again?

I'm not sure where the snow is coming from, as a digital signal shouldn't produce a snow/static effect. That would indicate to me that a reset or an update to the cable/sat box would likely address the issue.

Keep me posted.

I have not messed with the cable box. I will try that and see.

.........I recently have a similar problem show up. The screen goes blank for 3 seconds, but the sound continues.

rwl1776,

If it's a cable/sat box that this is happening on, call your cable/sat company and ask them to reset/refresh the box, or inquire if the box has any available firmware updates - which they can automatically update remotely.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
