Wow, know anybody who wants to purchase one of these models, is on sale at Fry's $1499.00 for the 630 and $1799.00 for the 650 model store pickup only.

We grabbed one of these last night. Noticed an interesting black translucent "wave" going from right to left for the first hour of a DVD movie (commercial store bought) and then it stopped. Afterward we switched back to cable and on the lighter screen saw that we had a vertical line of dead pixels left of center. OK, fire up online tech support and did all the tests it suggested; our result: "dead pixels, call the warranty service number". Now it's gone. Yikes! Anyone know what's up? Frys offered to get us a new unit in a day or 2 but I don't want to do that if it is component or wiring related.

OK ever weirder - the line went away, no change in wires or equipment hooked to it. It was formerly present when viewing all sources. We called to get an new HD cable box anyway.

nsxgod,

It's quite possible that your refrigerator or water heater kicked on, and may have caused some interference in the picture.

Regardless, do what's best for you. I would definitely get in touch with your reseller and discuss the issue, and possible remedies if it returns and you're unable to determine the cause.

Keep me posted!

Thanks for the checkin - we are getting a new HD cable box on Weds and I will get all new cables then as well. The guys at Frys will hold a replacement unit for us for a week so we can see if it was "burn-in" related or something odd in the house or it is actually a bad pixel strip.

The refer would not go on for an hour+, it is new and cycles pretty quickly, also everything else in the house was "off" since we were all watching the movie and we have a gas water heater 50+ feet away in the garage.

I was thinking it might also be a grounding issue since that was mentioned in the online tech tips section and will check that with a meter.

nsxgod,

It's pretty generous that your retailer would hold a unit for you just in case. If it goes happen again, I would recommend exchanging the unit. You'll know quickly enough if it appears again that it's probably not the television.

I hope it didn't sound like I was suggesting it was "anything but the TV". The reality is that in some cases, it is.

If you really want that piece of mind, maybe you might see if they'll do it anyway. I'd rather you be satisfied and content with your purchase than unsure and suspicious. That said, if something does go wrong within the year, let us know and we'll take care of it.

If you register the unit online, you get an additional 3 months of warranty coverage for free as well. Happy

Keep me posted.
