lN46A850 with Firmware 1005.0 - PQ Seems Lower than A650

Feb 23, 2009 8:51PM PST

I just received my exchange of an LN46A850, and my LN46A650 was returned. It seems that the picture quality is not as vivid as the 650 I once had?! Could it be the 1005 firmware? Has anyone else noticed this? Samsung Tech?

ckiefer72,

I'm not sure how to answer those "perception" kinds of questions. The specifications are similar, so I'm not sure why it would not appear as vivid as the prior model.

What inputs don't look as vivid?

PQ Input used on LN46850

I am using an HDMI input. I have not been able to find anything on firmware version 1005.0 for the LNA850 on Samsung's website. Can you tell me anything about this firmware?

If I installed 1003.0 would I be able to get 1005.0 back if I wasn't satisfied with 1003.0?

No uninstalling... reinstalling...

ckiefer72,

You'd have to have both the 1003. and 1005. firmwares to have the power to install either one at will. Let me explain:

If 1005 is on your set, and you have 1003, you can install 1003 over 1005. But if you don't like 1003, you can't "revert" or "system restore" or "undo" what's on there. The new firmware will overwrite the data completely. So if you don't like 1003, you have to have 1005. to change it back to 1005.

Does that help?
