LN46A850 Auto Shut Off Problem

Feb 4, 2009 6:55AM PST

I just setup my new LN46A850...but had an immediate problem. It stayed on for 15 minutes then shut itself off and then came back on again. After 2 more minutes it shut itself off again and back on......and then proceeded to do that every 1-2 minutes from then on.

I tried unplugging and resetting the TV several times with no success.

Is this a know issue? More importantly, is there a known fix?

deikszta,

It's not a known issue, but it certainly merits a call to service. Have you called to set up a service appointment?

LN46A850 Auto Shut Off Problem - me too
May 22, 2009 12:15PM PDT

well, I guess it is a known issue now.
I just received my new LN46A850 two days ago and for two days it was running fine. And now I have exactly the same problem as deikszta above. My TV is running for say 10 minutes and then turns itself off for 10 seconds, then on again for 10 seconds, off again for 10 sec and so on. Like a permanent reboot.

While it turns itself on it does not react to anything. No remote button, no button on the front bezel, nothing. You can't even power it off unless you unplug it. After having it unplugged for several minutes it is working again

Looks to me like either some heat or some static issue that is building up when the TV is running for a while. Contacted Samsung support about it and they will check it next week. I will post an update then.

Very very sad about this. Great TV otherwise but again serious quality issues with Samsung. Not my first bad experience with Sammy, but this time definitely the last one. Bye bye Sammy !!

Network could be the problem!
May 26, 2009 1:15AM PDT

You aren't the first one to see this, but try this quick fix: Disconnect the network connection, both wired and wireless (pull the USB wireless dongle if needed). Problem solved.

I'm seeing this on both a LN46A750 and a UN55B7000. Samsung is aware of thise vai these forums, but no fix has been offered. One other person on this forum is seeing this as well.

Anyone else having this problem?

not a network problem
May 26, 2009 1:27AM PDT

Hi,
thanks for your response. But it is not a network problem. So far I haven't even hooked up my TV to any network (wired or wireless)

Talked to Samsung this morning and they said it might be a power-related problem or most likely the main board is faulty. I will post an update after a service technician had a look at it (next Friday (in 3 days) was the first appointment I could get (sic))

Samsung LN46A 650 TV
Sep 7, 2009 5:54AM PDT

Purchased TV June 2008 after much research....Satisfied until last few days. Experienced on off issues with unit. Was advised that this is a problem with some of these models and to upload on thumb drive data (T-AMBAUSC.exe),then upload same to TV and problem will be resolved. Problem not resolved therefore repair person will be comming out to service TV but I was told waranty ran out in July. This situation does not speak well for for this and a few other models that experiences the same problems.
