LN46A650 won't turn on

Jan 27, 2009 4:47AM PST

My LCD is only 2 months old and while watching a bluray, it flickered/clicked on for a few seconds and then completely shut off. I tried turning it on at this point and would only get the red power light blinking on/off. I left the tv unplugged overnight and it continued to do the same. It will attempt to turn on, and I can hear the tv "click" as it attempts to, but there is no picture or sound. Is this a power supply issue?

Likely...

That is likely the problem based on the description.

The best way to fully answer that would be to have a service technician take a look at the unit.

Avoidable?
Jan 27, 2009 9:26AM PST

Thank you for the reply. I will do that. Is this a common problem with new units? Is this in any way avoidable? I have all my equipment hooked up to a monster surge protector.

A few instances...
Jan 30, 2009 9:10AM PST

I've learned not to use the word "rare" when describing symptoms that I've seen a few reports on, but in all, it's not very common. I'm not sure there is any way to call this issue avoidable, unless something physically happened to the unit.

We'll get it fixed under warranty.

Samsung warranty
Feb 3, 2009 3:32AM PST

I am having the same issue. I have contacted Samsung and created a service ticket. The service company called me today and told me it would be over a month before they could come out and service the tv. This seems like an inordinate amount of time to wait. Any suggestions?

Service Tech

You may want to find out who your service technician is, and call them on your own to see if there is an earlier slot available. You've been assigned one with your number, so you may be able to call and get that information.

If that's who quoted you that timeframe, you might see if Samsung can assign someone within the vicinity of repairs who might be able to do it sooner.

Keep me posted.

Having the same problem with my LN52A650
Feb 2, 2009 9:22AM PST

My LN52A650 just started demonstrating these exact same symptoms at the end of last night's Superbowl.

I've called for service and Samsung's contractor will be out on Feb 4th; but, if you happen to find out what the problem is sooner than that, I'd definitely be interested to hear what's up.

Good luck.
