The images on my TV seem to have a tracer. The problem is so slight, I believed it to be my imagination but now I am convinced it is not. It appears to be worse on HD programs through my WOW HD cable box and worse still on ones I play back on my DVR. I have only had the TV for a few days and haven't played any Bluray so I do not know if the problem exists there as well. The higher I set the Automotion 120 the worse the tracers are, so for now I have that set to off. Is there a setting to change this or should I be thinking about calling in a repair?

You might check to see what resolution is coming in on the television itself. See if changing the resolution changes the amount of tracing that happens.

The true test would probably be the Blu-Ray player. If you still see the tracing while viewing Blu-Ray content at 1080p, then I would definitely recommend having the unit serviced.

Thanks for the response. I watched 2 Bluray movies last night, and the tracer problem didn't exist. The resolutions on the input labels are the same (1920x1080i or p for bluray) however the cable input says 60hz instead of 120. I do have the cable box hooked up through an HDMI cable. Are all HDMI cables 120? Or do I just have to wait for the cable co to catch up with the technology?

The input signal for Blu-Ray and your Cable will usually be 60Hz. (Some Blu-Rays play at a 24Hz "film mode").

The television itself is a 120hz panel, so any signal that goes in (24, 30 or 60Hz) will be upconverted automatically to 120Hz. That 60Hz represents the incoming signal. At this point, there is no true 120Hz source signal - not with cable, Blu-Ray, game stations or anything in the consumer market today. (Some people buy 120Hz rated HDMI cables, and it's completely unnecessary at this point in time, but that's another discussion.)

You're not the first who has been confused by that Info display, and you certainly won't be the last. Happy

Just for expirimentation purposes, try to change the resoltuion on your cable box to 720p to see if your tracer issue changes.

In some cases, changing out the cable box is the best solution (except for when you have to give up all your recorded movies). You might also try pulgging the Cable/Sat box into a different HDMI port.
