LN46A540 remote: can it operate Cox HD cable box?

Dec 1, 2008 7:38AM PST

I just purchased an LN46A540, and when I get my new cable box from Cox it will be a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD. I want to know if I will be able to use the TV's remote (which seems to be very nice) to drive that cable box. The instructions give a procedure for memorizing the cable channels which I've done but I must use the Cox remote (SciAtl 2200 for now) to change channels. The Cox remote I have now will turn my TV on and off and change the volume and that's about it; maybe the 8300HD remote is better.

Don,

Many people use the cable remotes as the default remote because of the cable features that are available only on that remote control.

Thanks for your reply! But will the Samsung remote operate my cable box, at least to change channels?

No, it will not.

The remote will not program to cable boxes.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
