ln40a750 displays at 60 Hz instead of 120 Hz

yajanssen,

I would be glad to help you set this up.

If you go into your TV's menu, then into the Picture sub-menu you will see an option at the bottom, probably on the second pane, that says "Picture Options". Click into that and it will take you to a new window. On that window you will see at the bottom the option "Auto Motion Plus/120Hz". click into that and a drop down box will appear. Set this option to its highest setting (either it will say Smooth or High) and you should have 120Hz on that source. When you go back to your programing, it will display the actual Hz of the signal in the info box in the upper corner of the TV. Do not be alarmed, unless the actual signal is transmitted at 120Hz (which currently there are no signals that are transmitted at 120Hz), it will not say 120Hz. It will just display the actual info of the signal it self. But as long as you have the AMP at its highest setting, you will be seeing an up-converted picture at 120Hz.

Still not getting 120Hz
Aug 30, 2009 1:34PM PDT

I did exactly what you suggested and it shows up just like you said it would on my tv. However, when I use a DVD with my "Samsung 1080p Upconverting DVD Player" it only shows 60hz with the 1080p. Is there something I need to change on my DVD player? It seems like the TV is set up for 120Hz but maybe the DVD player isn't. Help please!!!

Thanks

Still not getting 120Hz

heatherrkerr,

There is no device that will output 120Hz to the television. It will accept a 1080p signal at 60Hz, which is the best signal possible in the market today. The INFO bar is showing you the incoming signal, and the 120Hz is automatically processed inside of the television.

ln40a750 dispalys at 60hz instead of 120 hz

I am encountering the same problem with my LN40b650. I've owned the TV for over a year and it ALWAYS ran at 120hz until last month. I know that for a fact because upon start-up a small box appears in the upper left had side of the TV screen and says so. It's changed to 60hz and Samsung is telling me it NEVER could have been as high as 120HZ. I will never but a Samsung TV again in htis life. Their customer service staff are the dumbest most arrogant bunch of idiots around
