LN40A550 not detecting signal from MacBook Pro

by boonsie / May 16, 2009 11:12 AM PDT

I've been really frustrated trying to connect my MacBook Pro to my Samsung 40" HDTV (LN40A550). My computer recognizes that it is connected to the TV (i am using a DVI to HDMI cable), but the Samsung TV is NOT recognizing it, no matter what I do. I've tried every resolution, I've tried "rebooting" the TV a million times. I've tried refreshing the source a million times. No matter what it won't detect it. It is fine detecting other things like USB drives, my HDTV cable box, etc... but not my MacBook Pro... Has anyone else run into this problem and/or a solution to this?

still not working... :(

Hi,

I meant to post this sooner, but none of the solutions address the specific problem I am having. My TV does not detect the fact that a computer is plugged into it, but my MacBook Pro does indeed detect "Samsung TV." No matter which resolution or setting I put (believe me, I've tried every combination) the TV pretends as if nothing is happening. A lot of other people's issues are dealing with VGA connectors. Since I'm using a MacBook Pro, I am using a DVI to HDMI cable, so I'm not sure what the problem would be.

boonsie,

Have you changed the name of the HDMI input you're using to "PC"?

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
