nueok,
Any device that switches resolutions will cause the television to "restart" the data stream, since the television is ultimately responsible for decoding the incoming signal.
Game consoles, particularly the one you're using, is notorious for changing resolutions - between the menu, games, and even some cut-scenes. The sudden changes might be throwing off the HT-AS720, as resolutions change, it may respond differently than the television would handle a resolution change.
I'm going to guess that if resolutions don't change, then the issue disappears?

Hello,
I was having this issue for quite a while now and I have updated all firmwares for both TV and PS3.
My setup has HDMI Output from AS720 to HDMI1 Input from TV. PS3 is hooked up from HDMI1 Input from AS720 receiver. So basically PS3 is hooked up through receiver and receiver is outputting to TV. When I load a game it will work without a problem 90% of the time. But when I exit a game TV says "Searching for Signal" then leads to TV saying "Mode Not Supported". This happens everytime. To get out of the message "Mode Not Supported" all I have to do is switch input on the receiver to any other source then switch it back to the proper input. Then I get the proper image back in the screen. This is a very annoying issue. For one I need to have the receiver remote handy all the time, even thou I have everything hooked up through Anynet+ including the DVD player. I would like it to just function properly. I dont think this "fix" I have figured out is not how a equipment should operate.
In the PS3 you cannot disable the 480p option. But when I have the PS3 hooked up directly to the TV with the same HDMI cable it has no issues whatsoever. My Samsung DVD player has no issues like this even though its hooked up to my receiver. Any ideas or suggestions? I have done a lot of Googling and it seems lot of people are having this issue with this Receiver.
