asw0000,
Often times with upconverting DVD players, the default settings are set on either composite or component because all televisions will have at least one of those connections.
HDMI is usually not the default set connection out of the box, and must be set in the setup menu. Try hooking your television up with a composite or component wire, and then go into the settings and switch the video output to HDMI.
Keep me posted. (There might still be time to go back and re-exchange it for a Samsung). ![]()

When connecting DVD player to this tv via any of the three HDMI ports, the tv can't find a signal source. I've tried all 3 ports. I initially connected the Samsung 1080P8 DVD player and the tv would find the source intermittently, usually after turning both units off then back on. I searched online and found people had the same problems and attributed it to the DVD player. I replaced the DVD player with a Toshiba XDE500, but I'm still having the same problem. None of the HDMI ports seem to work. I'm using the ultra high speed Monster HDMI cable. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?
