LN32A540 (Purchased from Costco) - Crackling Audio

Mar 31, 2009 8:59AM PDT

Two month old TV purchased from Costco. It has been functioning wonderfully before it was shifted to sit on a new stand. The audio goes into a warped mode and sound very garbled. Gets corrected after a few seconds before appearing again. The same has been observed on more than one channel. I have the basic cable, which is plugged directly to the TV.

Will a firmware update help fix the issue? or I would have to call Samsung?

Any help appreciated.

Costco has a great return policy if it comes down to that, but I'm not sure I would mention to Costco or Samsung that you shifted the tv and THEN noticed the problem. Second suggestion, plug in some headphones or external speakers...does the sound change? Third, hook up a dvd player if possible...does the sound change? All these should help determine if it's internal speakers, the signal from the basic cable, or a bigger issue. Good luck

visingh,

You might try resetting the television. This usually solves an audio discrepancy when hooked directly up to a cable connection.

On the remote:

Hold down the EXIT button until you see a reset option.
Click on YES

Audio issue should be fixed. This occasionally happens after a power outage or if the unit is unplugged. I don't have an explanation for it, but that reset usually does the trick.

You may have to readjust your picture settings, so if you got your picture settings where you like them, you might want to consider writing down the values so you can easily put them back in.

Keep me posted!
