LN-T5265F Won't Turn on After Firmware Upgrade

Nov 27, 2008 2:30PM PST

I've had this tv about a year and a half and like most folks have experienced HDMI issues. Five days after I bought the set I had a repair tech out. I hadn't used HDMI again until this week. I hooked a PS3 up and it began flashing green and losing the signal to display "mode not supported" every so often. I read on several forums including this one that a firmware update was the cure, so I went ahead and downloaded the latest firmware from Samsungs website. The update went fine and said the tv would turn off in 3 seconds and come back on. It didn't and won't turn back on. I've unplugged the set, switched power outlets, and still nothing. Samsung is using the excuse that its out of warranty and won't cover it. They even said that applying the firmware can damage the TV and wouldn't acknowledge this forum as offical. I'm not really keen on shelling out $100 for a service call and potentially much more for a fix when it seems like a simple firmware update shouldn't cause catastrophic failure to the set. Does anyone have any ideas to get it back up and running?

mikef72380,

I'd like to escalate this issue on your behalf if I may.

Do you have a Transaction number from the call?

Transaction #

Thank you for the reply and assistance Samsung_HD_Tech. My transaction number is 4002863810 for the latest issue and 4001527741 for my first issue. The support supervisor I ended up speaking with said she was sending my issue to the executive branch but made it clear that they likely wouldn't resolve it to my expectations. I have however uploaded my purchase receipt as was requested and am hopeful. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated.

Fixed

Samsung pushed my issue up to the executive department who extended my warranty and sent a tech out to fix the issue this week. Thank you Samsung_HD_Tech if you played any part in helping this get fixed!

The tech's explained to me that there are several mainboard versions and that not all can accept the firmware update posted on samsungs website. It seems to me like Samsung should list the versions that are supported for the firmware updates they post.

Are they going to send a service tech to take a look at it?
