LN-T4061F will not turn off / no video or audio

by mrrsmiley / October 20, 2011 8:33 AM PDT

My Samsung LN-T4061FX suddenly decided to no longer display video or audio, nor will it turn off.
Can anyone help me diagnose whether this is a main board issue vs. a power board issue? I presume it's not a T-Con or backlight as the power will not even turn off... and there is a little bit of light so the panel is definitely not black.
Thank you all in advance for your guidance!

So you've watched the videos at link?

YouTube clips haven't helped

Thanks, I've already checked out the video you referenced. His issue seems a bit different than mine ... especially since his remote works. I can't even turn off the tv from the device itself, let alone the remote! I do have backlight visible from the back of the tv. No blown capacitors... of course I bought this 3 1/2 years ago, so it's out of Samsung's warranty.
Any other suggestions? I appreciate everyone's time!

And in that video he did say

That the issues will change but the cause was the same or the cap was another one.

Some folk miss that and miss out on a cheap fix.

Not caps

Wish it was the caps Sad
I even replaced them just on the off-chance ...twice... with no change.
What else would cause the power to just remain on?

Then it's boards.

I think there are 3 boards. A Samsung tech usually can guess which one on the first try!

Yeah, I'd like to know which one, though.
Main, Power, T-Con ... any ways of diagnosing which one would be awesome. Samsung has already told me they won't cover service, it's out of warranty, and my local Samsung service center already looked at me sideways when I started asking about service ... (I think they don't actually have a Samsung tech left at the business).

You find some using a Volt meter to check power. There are no service manuals like we had back a few years ago. Do you remember Sam's Photofacts?

Given the symptoms I'd look at other than the main board. But if the owner had left this in service when it would click for many minutes then all boards are now suspect.
