LN-T4061F tv messed up after firmware upgrade

May 3, 2008 3:42PM PDT

Hi Guys,

I bought my 4061 in November 07. Today after registering my TV online in my user logon screen I noticed a new firmware that samsung made available for download for 4061. I downloaded and installed the firmware according to the instruction and installation went OK.
But as soon as the TV restarted (as it was supposed after the firmware upgrade) all colors messed up and pic shows in negative. I called samsung and there is no help from them. They are telling that the firmware was created for 4061 TV manufactured before sept 07. Mine was later. There was no warning, no indication of anything that could lead me to think twice before doing any upgrade.

Basically they have created a trap for unscrupulous consumer and would refuse to fix. DO NOT DOWNLOAD any FIRMWARE UPGRADE TO SAVE YOURSELF $$ and trouble.

Now my questions are:

1. How do I downgrade the firmware to its original version?
2. Where can I can it and if downgrade is possible?

November '07?

Sounds like warranty to me. Call them, demand to speak to a manager or supervisor, tell them what happened, and have them either walk you through it or send out a tech. They should also make available the earlier version of the firmware.

Here is the fix

I ran into this with my LN-T4061F and updating the Firmware. I found this forum post (Link below).

In the below settings, you'll want to press buttons slowly. The TV lags between when you press a button and when it responds.

0. Set the TV onto an unused source so you have a black or blue screen. This makes reading the menu easier in later steps.
1. Turn the TV off.
2. On the remote, press MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER
3. The TV will turn on into service mode. It takes a few seconds after powering on to display the service menu.
4. Using the arrow buttons on the remote, go down to Option Byte and press Enter.
5. Arrow down to "Lvds Tx Fmt" and press Enter.
6. Using the right and left arrow buttons, change the setting. Mine was set to JEIDA. Setting it to VESA fixed things.
7. Press Menu to exit.
8. Turn the TV off to apply the changes.

Also, check the info from the link I posted (below) to make sure that a few other settings in Option Byte are correct for your tv.

Quote:
Make sure the SCREEN SIZE is correct: Panel Option = 46AMW for LN-T4665 displays, and 46AM for LN-T4661 displays.
Make sure that if you own an LN-T4x65 that your Lvds Tx Bit = 10bit.
Make sure if you own an LN-T4x61 that your Lvds Tx Bit = 8bit.
If you own an LN-T4x65, your should change your model so it says "Tulip Side."
If you own an LN-T4x61, you should change the model so it says "Tulip."

Great post! Was trying the firmware upgrade to see if it would allow for Dolby 5.1 HDMI pass through and thought I really messed up the TV permanently!

Firmware update itself

Hi,

I followed your post about resolving a post-firware update problem. I wanted to know if you 1) still have the update or 2) where I can download it from.

I went to my Samsung page after I registered the TV and found nothing about a firmware update.

Thank you,

A. Roy
