LN-S2641D 'ghosting' effect in PC mode

Feb 8, 2009 12:32AM PST

I've got a serious 'ghosting' problem when in PC mode. The ghosting effect only is happening as a horizontal offset to the right side only. It doesn't happen when watching tv, just in pc mode. I'm connected to a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop (Win XP) via vga port (only option). The tv is a couple years old, but I've just recently started using it more as a monitor, but it seems to be getting worse. I have example images from my camera available. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is extremely annoying, especially when working in high contrast situations.

Thanks,

JB

I actually do have a DVI output on my laptop. Would the DVI to HDMI on my tv possibly help this situation?

DVI
Feb 8, 2009 6:12PM PST

joshbethea,

Sorry for the delay in response.

The advantage of a DVI/HDMI is that it transfers the signal digitally - VGA is a digital-to-analog-to-digital transfer, which may be the source of some of these issues.

DVI will assign pixel to pixel mapping of the image you're sending. You might want to refer to the manual first to make sure that the resolutions you want to send can be accepted by the television.

Keep me posted.

Bought a DVI to HDMI Cable...grainy image
Feb 12, 2009 11:59AM PST

I bought the cable, but the image is crappy. Also, if I set it as the primary monitor, it cuts off a lot of the screen. I can't see the top of a browser window and can't see the task bar at the bottom. What now?

What happens when you adjust the settings on the resolution on the video card?

This is an issue with your GFX card setting
Set your driver to 1080 or what ever your tv is...If you cant see the edges adjust the image VIA OVERSCAN settings. Ive had that problem too.
