Question

LiveWave

Feb 3, 2019 3:06PM PST

Has anyone tried to use the live wave antenna. It has a coax feed and plugs into your 110 volt outlet. It claims to use the wiring of your house as an antenna. Is it bogus or is it possible that would work? I may not really need it since I am close enough to New York City but I certainly would like to pick up more channels and pick up the ones I have now with more reliability. Thanks John

It's an Antenna That Claims Cable Access
Feb 13, 2019 10:01AM PST

This may work as a good antenna, but there is no way it can give you cable channels. Cable channels are not broadcasted into the air. Therefore no antenna could ever pick any cable channels up, no matter how powerful. Cable channels are delivered through a cable line directly into the home. High powered antennas can only pick up broadcast channels from local stations. How many stations are available depends on how many local stations are in your area. If you live in a large city you bay get 60 to 80 channels, including sub-channels, but if you live in a small town or rural area you may only get 5 to 10 channels even with a huge outdoor antenna. Any product that claims it can give you cable channels through an antenna are just scams. They do not, and cannot, give you access to any cable channels.

Over the air broadcasts
Mar 21, 2019 9:03AM PDT

So called cable channels are not only available on cable. These are live air broadcasts that are also delivered by cable, satellite, and internet. So if you have a working antenna, you can pick up all the channels broadcast in you geographic area plus some of the stronger signals from areas further away. Cable channels have no exclusivity.... that’s only what the telecoms want you to believe.

LiveWave Antenna
Jul 12, 2019 3:46PM PDT

To put it in a nutshell, no cable networks are ever broadcast over-the-air. The only time cable networks were broadcast over-the-air, was with a certain type of Wireless cable in the 1990s. Do not ever believe the hype that you will ever get cable stations without a coax cable leading to a satellite dish or cable. This live wire antenna makes your wiring in your house a mediocre antenna. It will not impress you with results. Those of us in the broadcast industry oh, know that long wires oh, like the ones inside a home, only got low frequencies, such as channels 2 through 7. The only indoor antenna that works well is the mohu leaf antenna. So far, no other antenna compares. Do not get leaf antenna look-alikes. They will not get stations the way the leaf antenna does. And definitely do not get the livewave antenna.

LiveWave Antenna ADDITION
Jul 12, 2019 3:54PM PDT

This scam has been around for years. I can remember back in the 70's, a similar device was marketed. It looked different, but was the same exact product. Only 2 differences- it was white in color and did not have the "ground" prong. Take it from a broadcast engineer... this product will not work. I do not work for any cable network or company. Just an ABC affiliate.

I agree. Bad marketing.
Mar 21, 2019 9:18AM PDT

There is some scum marketing here and those that want to sell it make false claims. Over the air (OTA) is often re-piped to cable so they will use that to bolster their claim you can get cable channels so let's just give them the old heave ho into the viper pit and move on.

Those Channels Are Broadcast But are Scrambled.
May 5, 2019 7:17AM PDT

Those Channels Are But Scrambled. All Cable Companies have Large Satellite Antennas at their Offices.. Just Look people. But those So Called Cable Signals are Scrambled... Just Try to receive Dish or Directv or Cable Channels without their Boxes. Good Luck. you Can I guess By a Descrambler... Come to think of it I had one for many years... Had to often have it reprogrammed until the caught on and finally blocked it.

Appearance
Jul 4, 2019 8:10AM PDT

This has the appearance of an adapter that simply connects the coax to the ground plane of the house wiring. I can't imagine spending money on this, but to each their own. Idk if this is the case, but if it uses no electricity then what else could it be? Like Ricky Ricardo said... "splain".

Oct 4, 2019 6:17AM PDT

Beware, I’ve been waiting since May 20 2019 for my refund. I got zero channels, they offered me 10% of my money back to keep it. I returned it to their warehouse via usps with tracking etc and have no less then 10 emails and phone calls trying to get my money back. I’m told my refund will take a week, so sorry so sorry for some reason we can’t get the refund to go through etc. I’m turning everything over to the credit card company at this point Nd filing a police report for theft. Do not fall for this scam!

No Free Cable TV with a $40 antenna
Jul 16, 2019 11:48AM PDT

There is absolutely no reason to "give this product a chance". The Livewave Antenna gives convoluted claims that you can get Subscription based Cable channels for FREE, and yet it does NOT, nor is there a way to do it ethically. It's just a regular antenna connection using a different product design.

The scam with this product is that it doesn't outright claim free Cable; they simply give you the IMPRESSION that you will get free cable. So anyone who falls for this, based on that type of marketing is getting scammed due to their own greed of "something-for-nothing".

Cable channels scramble their stations and change the codes to access their signal regularly, and this is how they keep non-paying customers out. This device is not a de-scrambler.

So if you want to pay $40 for a regular antenna connector, then you'd better expect regular TV signals - regardless of quality on those free channels.

By watching the commercial one could see that LiveWave is a scam. What is worse is Facebook is hosting websites like this without screening it. This is really disturbing. Users from Facebook may have fallen into this scam because they think that Facebook is trustworthy. I tried to complain to Facebook before but I think their top priority is generating revenue.

How can you try it if they don't send it?

I agree with you on this one. I ordered about the same time you did. I did however get an email stating I would get 10% off of my order due to the late shipment. I'm going to call the toll free number printed on the confirmation email and hopefully a live person will answer. I would like to try it if for no other reason than to get clearer reception.

Let me pull no punches.

If you want a better antenna you skip all the hype and get a bigger antenna.

Here's the one I picked up. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0024R4B5C

If you are trying those "patch" antennas I find that one is just like the next. Do not replace a patch antenna with another. If you want to pick up a few more channels or have a channel dropping out then the larger antenna is the best move.

As to claims about cable channels, don't listen to the scammers.

Ordered 2/11. 2 months later, still haven't received it. I have called 3 times. First one I was told it would ship by 3/28. Called on 4/4 and was told it would ship on the 8th of 9th. Called today, (4/11) and was told it would ship tomorrow. This their last chance. If it doesn't I will cancel an call the BBB.

No refunds will be coming. Scammers do not give refunds.
May 5, 2019 12:03PM PDT

However, you might get your credit card or paypal account regularly charged. Many of these scams put in a subscription style charge not a single payment charge. Buyer beware, for sure, but also monitor your accounts! Once they have your information, they can do a lot to get more money from your account!

Some credit cards have cancellation capability to stop payment, but you also have to be careful that the scammers don't reuse your information with other company names.

Let's be clear; Most of these "companies" aren't even legal entities. They are made up to match a domain name to steal money from you. Period.

Scammers
Mar 23, 2019 2:19PM PDT

They have a picture that they claim is from "America Has Talent" with Howie Mandel. You can see that it is two images that they put together that has Howie holding up his smartphone but it CAN NOT work with smartphones anyway because they don't have a "cable input." If you click on the "company website" in blue it says "error 404." Also, if you click on wherever it shows the blue link word it says that. They are scammers and Fakebook doesn't seem to care. Many of the ads on Face(farce) book are overpriced items that you can get on Amazon for a fraction of the price. Furthermore if you look up "Live Wire on Amazon there is no such product as is advertised on Facebook! Scamming Ba**ards!

Place a trash can near your mail box....

What you are about to receive from LiveWave is a piece of garbage. I ordered two, no instructions are included. It has a cable included that has a suction cup wired off about half way between the coax cable connectors, no clue what you're supposed to do with it. Hooked it up and did a channel scan, no analog channels and four digital of which two have a weak signal causing them to breakup. This is junk, if you order one, take it out of your mailbox and place it in the trash can you recently placed by your mailbox.

Hi Stevenk12. We're sorry to hear about this feedback. The Digital HDTV Receiver uses the electrical wiring in your home to receive digital signals from broadcast towers in your area – turning your entire home or building into one large antenna. The number of channels you can receive depends on your distance, location, and environment in relation to your nearest broadcast tower.
