General discussion

Live USB Windows 8

Jul 20, 2012 6:31AM PDT

Windows 8 Motherboards?
Can we boot Live USBs, ToRAM Linuxes?

DoD LPS, TinyCore, Live USB Ubuntu etc.

Will we be able to boot into Linux in a WebCafe?

Can't seem to get an answer.

If you can't modify it, do you own it?

I'm going with no.

The ARM devices will be like a XBOX in my opinion. Nice since it's locked down so it works, bad for those that want to load another OS or tinker.

Lock down palace. No alternative browsers and maybe little else. My developer friends are thinking it may not be that much fun.

Do Microsoft do motherboards?

I didn't think so.

But I can say one thing, you don't own Windows 8, no-one does. It is supplied under license.

I will have paid for the hardware.
Like I said if you can't alter it, you don't own it.

It appears you want to make some statement. And since you have more than one discussion, why not start a new post with your full concern.

Re Cross Posted (Which Forum Win8 or Linux?)

Hi!
No Statement.

Basic problem, I'm a self confessed DistroHopper!

In a world where some mobos are Win8 only what works?
USB or CD
Not just me, US DoD LPS, Instant WebKiosk, AVG Rescue.
TinyCore, Puppy, Slitaz, Ubuntu Live USB. users as well.

I can't find a simple straightforward answer.
Given the oncoming release of Win8 what happens?
Win9, XP, Vista, Win7 as well?

Regards
