my laptop has a way of restoring back to factory settings without a disc i have a button i can press but that did not resolve my problem

It's a shame you didn't create those restore media. This is usually the point where owners figure out that step is not one to skip.

Now that it does not work with a factory restore you get to arrange for repair.
