Question

Live Mail Server Settings

by nicklaus / September 28, 2014 4:01 PM PDT

It seems, from what I have read in the past, Live Mail has a bad habit of randomly deleting all the mail messages in the inbox. Whenever that happened to me, if I needed to see one of them, I would go online through what I thought was Hotmail and view my emails. Well, I ended up finding out that I had over 5000 stored emails on their server. So I decided to delete them and change the setting so that they wouldn't be stored.

Now I want to change it back so that I can 'selectively' delete certain emails. BUT, I cant find a way in. My email extension is msn.com

Server
by nicklaus / September 29, 2014 1:51 AM PDT

I want to go to where my emails are stored on some server and change the settings back to how I had them before I deleted the emails. At one time in an attempt to correct the issue with my inbox mail being deleted, I tried to remove the email account and re-create it. When I did that, it took several minutes for ALL of the emails that were stored on someone's servers to down load back to my newly created email account. So, they are stored on a server somewhere. A few weeks ago, I was finally able to log into my email account (msn.com) online, whether it was Hotmail or something else, I don't recall. It was there that I was able to change the settings so that all emails were not stored on a server. Now, I want to change that back but I cant find where that setting is.

Ok it sounds like you have a Pop email account

Bright House is my provider (roadrunner). Pop account mail servers receive your mail and when you login using the client they are downloaded to your email client but the originals typically remain on the server. You can go to your Email providers website and set it to delete the email from the server once it's downloaded. I don't have it set to delete and when I check my mail on other devices I get the same emails that I get in Live mail because they aren't deleted after the first download. But someone once the email is downloaded once to the device it doesn't download it again eventhough it's still on the Bright House server.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
