Live Mail newsgroup logon problems

Just got a new laptop with Windows 7 so I installed Live Mail 2011. Created two e-mail accounts with no problems and they work fine.

I create a newsgroup account and when finished Live Mail attempts to download the list of groups my server hosts -- and the logon box opens every 20 seconds or so -- over and over and over again -- and the groups list never gets downloaded.

My mail and newsgroup server is hosted by my ISP -- same passwords. Settings for all accounts on the laptop are EXACTLY the same as the settings for all accounts on my WinXP desktop where everything - mail and newsgroups - work just fine.

Any tips, hints, ideas on how to get Live Mail to work with newsgroups are greatly appreciated.
